When my son was 2 1/2 years old, he was diagnosed severely autistic. In the months and years that followed, through a series of alternative, holistic treatments, my son eliminated all of his autistic symptoms and labels. He was originally diagnosed autistic. Over time, and as the treatments started to heal him, his diagnosis changed to Aspergers, then ADD, and eventually, ADHD. He has been free of any label or symptom for years now. I actually had a medical doctor recently arguing with me about whether he could have ever been autistic at all, based on what he saw in my son at age twelve. I did not have the heart to give him the list of his colleagues and all the specialists that my son saw over the years. He is 14 years old and he is bright, articulate, happy, funny, creative, healthy, and his schooling is at or above grade level. Above all, he is kind, generous, loving and he is a wonderful addition to the planet, as are all of the autistic children I have had the opportunity to meet.
